Our Chamber - Then & Now

The Marion Chamber of Commerce was founded by the Marion Rotary Club in 1922 as a method of combining all of the community and economic development functions into one organization. Articles of Incorporation for the Chamber were passed in 1967. Over the years, the Chamber has grown in membership and made great progress in laying the groundwork for business and industrial development in Marion. During the mid-1980’s, the organization published a brochure focusing on Marion’s major residential expansion and status as a model community that provided affordable, zero-lot-line housing. Needless to say, the Chamber has played a major role in the city’s considerable rise in population over the years.

Today’s Marion Chamber of Commerce has grown to over 230 members and serves as a valuable tool to our business community. We are committed to providing services to member businesses, improving quality of life and promoting Marion in the region as a great place for you, your family and your business.

The Chamber offers many benefits to its members including a listing on the Chamber website membership directory, ribbon cuttings and grand openings, educational seminars, and business referrals by the Chamber staff. We also host several fundraising events during the year that provide excellent advertising opportunities through our sponsorship plans. As a courtesy, we can provide Chamber members access to our member database contact information via an Excel spreadsheet. The Chamber also provides relocation information to new and potential residents, as well as housing an information center where members can display their business literature. In addition, we strive to keep the community informed of upcoming events and important news via our website, social media, and weekly newsletter "Marion Matters".  Our members are able to participate in Chamber-specific retail campaigns, member-to-member deals, and national Chamber Office Depot Program discounts. Annual partnerships are available to our members as an even more effective way to be seen and highlighted through our various promotional opportunities.

Your Chamber membership is one of the best investments you can make to grow your business, as well as to benefit your community.
